I’d suggest adding a tag to the search string, such as boostrecent: off or something, with a web link on the search results page to add it if many of the email address details are boosted recent ones. That would allow them to back get their search-results hyperlink, too, because they’d have the ability to add the tag to that string.

Interesting. AFTER I first noticed the new logo (6PM PST), the top results were a Wikipedia page, followed by a Microsoft Research web page. In fact, the artificial increase is apparent if you look at the total results page. 11, as the first 10 results are there just because they are created in the past X hours.

Ionut, you have explained a flaw in the auto within the Google plantation. This type of ‘natural’ errors or for better words- design defects- actually dramatically boost the misconception of information and knowledge. This literally means, I cannot “google” for more information! Not sure, if other’s really understand the implications of the change in logo! From what I see, Google has a special index for recent web pages (probably extracted from Google Blog Search, so it is biased towards weblogs and sites that have fed). When you get into a query, Google’s algorithms determine is it a good idea to artificially promote pages from that index.

Google’s algorithms are manufactured by humans and include a lot of signals and conditions added manually. That means there are also flaws and they are subjective. Maybe Google will come up with a new tag to use for links? Perhaps, a fresh label now? Companies who sell fresh posts could be knocked from the market.

Seriously, Google all is great and, but I’m starting to think they’ve used their eye from the ball. Their main product is a search and it’s starting to slide. Amazing to think that someone else could become the search king. That is wrong. The reason why that post turns up at the top is because it gets the exact words in the title and the URL, (and higher up in the web page too) not because it was lately created.

Why would Wikipedia admittance be top for such a query? Limited to January 1 or limited to TCP/IP In the event that you query, Wikipedia shows up. Good news for regular bloggers, bad information for high positioning quality content providers. If Google does in fact split their index based on blogs, social press etc then it will also allow these web pages to be separately proven to users. This would then allow users to filter them out if required.

Maybe I should just heed my very own advice and use another engine (eg a9 springs to mind) from now on. Good idea, wish spammers shall not take it off. Wikipedia will go on. If I need something to analyze I check Wikipedia too. Not ago the interface transformed slightly long.

An interface is not actually that important, but I HATED this change. Google has some nice things, but I actually hate googling alone (such as searching for information). Last year I created a blog and associated with it from a post that received a lot of backlinks. The new blog was put into Google’s index after per month or so, but it has rated all for just about any query never. Ironically, the discussed rank inflation makes this site first in the Google ranking for “Google OS”.

I was wanting to research more about the fake rumor and came across this. Soon after Christmas I created a blog/site using WordPress software. As I figured no-one was linking to my blog, I didn’t bother putting a password on it. To my shock Google indexed my blog within 2 days!

I am puzzled concerning how Google could have gotten the URL to my blog. WordPress pings Technorati and everything its little blog indexing chums, and Google indexes those. They have links to pretty-well every WP and Blogger blog out there. This actually comes as no surprise if you ask me as an avid blogger. Several of my fellow bloggers and I have been noticing this effect in Google for over 3/4 of a year now. The truth is that Google does a good job of managing new, fresh quite happy with older more familiar content. Essentially, a powerful search engine needs to operate in this manner, unlike Yahoo, where it requires eons for comparative data to surface.
